Sponge Bathing with Dad

We have been busy adjusting to life with a newborn and therefore haven't posted much, but I wanted to share some pictures of Lily now that she has reached the 3 week mark. She is doing really well, gaining weight like a champion (she was born at 6 lb, 3 oz and now weighs 7 lbs 11 oz!). She is sleeping for large chunks of time but of course chooses to stay awake for 3 hours at midnight! Lily really does like her baths! Here she is getting a sponge bath from her dad with a hair washing from her mom. She really loves the hair washing part, she gets really calm and focuses on our faces...she enjoys the body bath less because she doesn't love being exposed to cold air. Lily also likes to be outside, especially when she is fussy at night. She will immediately relax and stop crying if we walk outside on a warm night with the crickets and sequedas making their loud noises. She will even fall asleep thankfully. Finally, she enjoys spending relaxation time (about 3 minutes!) in her bouncy chair. Today she enjoyed it so much that she spit up all over herself, me, and the chair! She is so much more alert and awake now that I wanted to share some pictures of her with her eyes wide open.

Little Lily is a piece of work, isn't she! She doesn't look anything like Edward G. Robinson like most tykes, but I guess that's okay. S&J look like they're having fun, and it doesn't really ever stop when you have kids. Baths were always the best time-- splashing and giggling to come soon. I remember when I turned 40 and I finally decided to stop all that splashing and giggling, and the world changed. Keep posting these great pix, and keep us informed about Lily's failure to like green beans or her fascination with spuds--it's all good reading!

Love to all three of you,

Ted
